Press Roundup: CEO Pink, the Investigation that led to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s sunglasses, a New Wave of Disco
Plus: a jewelry portfolio perfect for travel.
Summer is officially here—and I can’t believe I’ve been writing this newsletter for over a year now. I just want to take a moment to thank you, the readers, for letting me show up in your inbox almost daily. It’s a real joy to write Style Beat, and truthfully, it wouldn’t exist without you.
If you’ve been enjoying the newsletter, consider becoming a paid subscriber. It helps support the time and energy I pour into keeping this space sharp, curious, and style-forward.
Now onto today’s feature: a press roundup. The news cycle’s been a bit slower lately, but there are still some great stories making the rounds. Have you heard of the new CEO Pink trend? Yes, it’s a thing—and it’s giving Matthieu Blazy a run for his money.
His first official show for the house is in October. But the couture collection in July will be blush with hints. He’s already working at the atelier on Rue Cambon.
Finally, while browsing for today’s 5 Things To Pack, I picked out a few finds that would fit a weekend at La Pausa. My favorite? A travel jewelry portfolio made of canvas and leather trimmings, complete with recycled materials and brass studs. Something about the phrase traveling jewelry portfolio just sounds elegant, doesn’t it?

The Pink CEO Trend (wsj)
Moguls around town are pivoting towards “soft strength”, says the Wall Street Journal, by owning pink the same form they own a situation. The new “power neutral” is a muted, slightly dusty pale pink. It highlights good tailoring, employing hints of minimalism and it’s full of nuance. Khaite and Alaia have great options. In the meantime, Victoria Beckham is looking closer to mauve for tailoring.
The key to wearing the color is knowing what texture to shop. Avoid anything that’s too fussy and stick with the basics: shirts, jackets, pants, trenchcoats. Nothing that reads too “Chanel Tweed” or “1960s stroll down Park Avenue”.
Instead, juxtapose the soft power look with an angular black shoe and edgy masculinity.
The Result of an Investigation Has Found Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Sunglasses (vogue)
The search is over! We have found Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s iconic sunglasses, just in time for summer. Here are the files.
A New Wave of 1970’s Velvet (harper’s bazaar)
Ready to get your groove on this summer? According to Brad Pitt, freedom is in the movement. On a recent outing in New York, the actor wore Willy Chavarria’s Fall collection velvet cobalt blazer, some barrel jeans, a breezy pinstripe shirt, and square-toe shoes. Velvet, being noted as the fabric to catch the wind of fashion enthusiasts. Is there a storm brewing? Are disco balls making a comeback? Call in the tropics! Disco is in the works.
