The Jet Set Edit: 50 Pieces and 4 Destinations
8 Looks, a travel itinerary, and what to order at Nobu.
SUNDAY REVIEW—
Hello, everyone. I’ve been exploiting my Vogue Archives subscription and deep diving into the annals of fashion history. The NYT’s Time Machine is another favorite rabbit hole—it's how I first came across the hobble-skirt when I did a story on Saks’ acquisition of Bergdorf’s (with Amazon’s help).
Last weekend, I wrapped up the market report with a series of drop-waist little black dresses. At first, I hesitated—another LBD? But in hindsight, it made for a pretty chic moment.
In a September 1989 copy of Vogue, Karl Lagerfeld called the LBD “irreplaceable”. Back then, women were draping themselves in sheer mousseline and georgette—transparent, seductive. The 2025 twist? Designers have added fringe, injecting movement and energy into an enduring staple. This Simkhai woven tank dress is a great modern take.
This week, I’ve been thinking about places I’ve been—or need to go to. The wanderlust bug has bit me. One thing I love about Paris in the spring: the seagulls migrate back to town and their cackles echo over the rooftops of the capital once the Eiffel Tower’s lights flicker off. After nearly a decade here, it’s a familiar sound that announces the spring.
With travel on my mind, I bring you 50 brands (and pieces) worth knowing. I combed through Neiman Marcus’ vacation edit, piecing together looks at all price points—anchored by hero items like a Macrocannage Dior jacket, a Taxi-yellow leather Miu Miu coat, a Johanna Ortiz print dress, and, yes, shorts. I spotted my first non-gym pair on the street this week and thought: It’s time to pack my camera bag and chase the sun.
Dinner in Malibu

Itinerary: 8H surfing / 13H lunch at SQIRL / 21H dinner at Nobu in Malibu.
The Edit:
The guy’s outfit is how I think about a Californian’s uniform: distressed Amiri denim, an Agolde leather jacket that’s less than $1000, bling, and a vintage surfboard. How to style a Missoni dress? The boldest and least obvious way I liked was with a Dior jacket and Miu Miu suede clog sandals.
THE ORDER AT NOBU: tiradito Nobu style, seaweed salad, artichoke salad; Chilean seabass with dry miso, lobster sweet and sour; semifreddo dessert (passion Fruit, malibu coconut, pistachio). Cocktail: Malibu breeze.
Weekend in Paris

Itinerary: 22H30 Air France flight from JFK (AF007) landing in Paris CDG the next day at 12H05 / 19H post-nap drinks at La Palette / Dinner at Huguette.
The Edit:
What’s good about the 21H30 flight is that if you need to check-in to a hotel, you can do so upon arrival. If you’re a local, I love taking the 19H30 flight out of JFK (AF005) to enjoy dinner and breakfast on the plane. I rarely sleep in flights, so nap upon arrival.
PRO TIP: fly in the new Air France La Premiere suite to get a set of Jacquemus pyjamas on board.
JW Andserson has terrific accessories (at a reasonable price-point). A Rimowa cabin bag will last you over a decade if you take good care of it, and costs less than most luxury shoulder bags ($1,525). Cult Gaia has really fun bags.
Shopping in Rio de Janeiro

Itinerary: 10H Ipanema beach / 19H drinks in Lapa / Dinner at Térèze.
The Edit:
Before you even get your first Caipirinha, you’ll want to stop by the Havaianas store in Copacabana. Volleyball tournaments start early on the sand (and are shoeless). Etro is the menswear go-to for printed silk shirts, and Johanna Ortiz for print dresses. Miu Miu has a buttery leather matelassé wallet perfect for travel, and don’t miss out on Loewe’s criss-cross belt sandals for a dressier option.
Springtime in New York

Itinerary: 8H breakfast at La Bonbonniere / 19H independent film at the Angelika / Takeout dinner from Dumpling Man.
The Edit:
Flannel plaid shirts are a great spring edit as the weather starts to warm up. Isabel Marant has given rise to the ambiguous preppy aesthetic, see the fish bracelet. Trish Wescoat Pound (TWP) was New York’s breakout designer this year. Her relaxed-yet-dressy silhouettes are anchored by The Next Morning shirt—a striped shirt that embraces ease without sacrificing polish.
You can shop TWP at Bergdorf Goodman.
Where are you traveling to this year?
